Storm in the X-Men anime

Post by EyeOfTheStorm on Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:35 pm

I thought Storm's portrayals in Evolution and the first live action film (never bothered with the sequels) were bad because she hardly got to do anything, but the anime is the worst yet!

Not only does Storm hardly get to do anything, when she does fight, she either passes out after firing off a single lightning bolt or gets caught by the enemy and needs to be rescued by Wolverine, Beast or Cyclops.

Honestly, I wonder if the makers of these TV/movie versions ever bother to read the comics. Suspect

I loved Evo Storm and the reasons stated above about the Anime is exactly the reason why I did with whatever time she was present in the Evo series. Anime Storm is a nightmare and you just cannot help but see how bad they really screwed her in this series. Terrible voice actress, horrid power displays, and completely useless in battle. No leadership qualities or love interest. W&TX Storm was a grade better overall even if she appeared much less compared to Anime Storm. She was powerful, heroic, and had a love interest.

The main problems I had with her was her lack of importance on the team and how inconsistently she was skillful in combat. She was also just a wallpaper figure there with no real hobbies beside watering her plants. Evo Storm was better than both that she was a teacher, and support character that had family and things to do outside of her work with the X-men. The rolemodel and was extremely powerful and heroic. She was also very skillful and utilize her powers effectively enough in combat and took command of leadership whenever she was present. She just needed to be shown much more often.

I hope someday a TV or movie version is made where Storm will be featured as prominently as Wolvie and Cyc always are and is allowed to fight at least on their level, though of course we know she's stronger than those two any day of the week.

Same here, it's like we can never have it all with any animated version of Storm. The only one that went close to that was TAS Storm, which I do give her credit for. But in reality not even comic Storm has remained the way she use to be back in the day. We can only hope that her new exposure in the Avengers, and her possible role in a first class movie will be something big, and will shine a new light to the producers and writers to give her more focus.

Is there actually talk of making a movie about Storm? I know Halle Berry wanted to, but that was about two years ago and I haven't heard anything since. And would it really be worth seeing if Halle Berry were in it since she did such a crappy job playing Storm in the movies?

A Storm movie has been in talks since X2 I believe. Bryan Singer stated in an interview that he wanted to do a Storm movie after the X-men films and Halle Berry did in fact state that she believed Storm should have her own movie. Singer is back into producing the X-men films so maybe there is still a possibility that he will do one after the first class series.

There was also talk about a few animated DTVs films that were going to be based in the film universe during the Wolverine X-men Origin film. Storm was one of the characters that they wanted to do one about. However, I believe that project was cancelled after the movie failed. The new Wolverine film is a completely separate reboot and so will be the Deadpool and Gambit movie.

I think Evo Storm wasn't that bad, the only bad thing about her is that they concentrated mostly over her water control powers... and sometimes they missed her eyes to glow and some very important places.
